"Like branches on a tree our lives may grow in different directions yet our roots remain as one."
There are many young people, and by now also some older that has done a DTS or another school at Restenäs or Jörn during our first decade. If you are one of them we would like to invite you to a weekend of memories, fellowship and challenges for the coming years
During the first years on Restenäs and Jörn we had quite big schools and many staff that with great excitement took part in the ministry to “know God and Make Him known”. This reunion for 1979-1989 during 27 – 30 June will give you the opportunity to reconnect with old friends, get to know the work of YWAM today and be challenged for the future. We will have Mike & Ros Oman from YWAM Northern Ireland as a guest speaker since he frequently visited during the first years.
We start on Thursday at 18:30 with a gathering in the Aula and then the White House cafe will be open for fellowship until late in the night. During the Friday we will have a relaxed breakfast, hopefully outside in the sunny weather. Then we meet in the Aula around 10 together with Mike & Ros and old leaders from Restenäs and Jörn. The time between lunch and dinner will be free to spend on catching up, fika, prayer and fellowship. In the evening we meet again at 18:30 for worship and teaching.
The program on Saturday will be like the day before, but with a celebration in the evening with worship and much more. The café will be open until late again. On Sunday we will have a lovely breakfast from 8:00 – 9:45, then we meet in the Aula at 10 and finish up our reunion with lunch.
MIKE & ROS OMAN
In 1977 Mike & Ros started a youth ministry focused on discipleship and reconciliation with young people from all ethnic backgrounds and denominational persuasions at a time when their nation was experiencing great segregation, mistrust and violence.
They did their DTS in Hammanskraal, South Africa, in 1979 and brought the youth ministry into YWAM in 1980, when they pioneered the first YWAM location in Zimbabwe. In 1984, following a 3-month Leadership Training School in Hawaii, they pioneered a second YWAM location in Zimbabwe. From there they released, and gave oversight to, small teams pioneering YWAM ministries in Moçambique (1985), Zambia (1987) and Malawi (1989).
The Lord called them on to Northern Ireland in 1991, where they established YWAM in 1994. They handed over the leadership of YWAM - NI in September 2007, and Mike now has an eldership role in YWAM Western and Central Europe.
Mike is also involved in teaching in YWAM discipleship training programs internationally. Ros taught internationally for a number of years, but now focuses on intercession for Ireland.
Over the past 39 years they have taught and ministered in about 70 countries.
