Let's Build A
We have a big property... and some big dreams for all that could happen here! That being said, we can't do everything all at once.
So for 2020, we will focus on two main areas:
1 - The White House (café + 1st floor)
2- Mandatory infrastructure projects
1 - The White House
CAFÉ + 1ST FLOOR
We chose the White House as the starting point for the building of our Playground. Its central location and wide variety of rooms offer us an exciting canvas for creating an inspiring work and learning environment.
For this year, we will be focusing on 3 areas:
02 / CAFÉ KITCHEN
This kitchen is about 40 years old and everything in there needs to go. We have started the demolition work and this project will be a big part of the renovations for this Spring.
An upgraded kitchen will enable us to use the café a lot more and make it easier to host people in connection to the different activities and events we run as a community.
We're looking for electrician, plumber & carpentry skills
34 000 kr (roughly 21 000 kr for construction material + 13 000 kr for a secondhand kitchen)
Deadline - Fall 2020
01 / MAIN CAFÉ SPACE
1 - Main Café Space
We are currently finishing the renovation of the main café space, which will become the principal hub for our community. We will use the space as a hybrid between a co-working environment and a café, where we will work together, and host different types of gatherings and of events.
We believe in the importance of togetherness and collaboration and we want this space to inspire people to gather and create together!
Electrician - (2-3 days of work)
6000 kr for electrical material
+ furniture (tables & chairs)
Deadline - June 30th
03 / CLASSROOM + CREATIVE STUDIO ON 1ST FLOOR
We will focus on revamping the two main rooms next to the Aula. The goal is to create and inspiring classroom space and to connect it with a creative studio.
We want to see this area turn into a fertile soil for the ideas and projects of the future. Those rooms will be used especially for the running of 101-Spark DTS, but also for different courses and workshops we will run in the future.

2 - Mandatory Infrastructure Projects
SEWAGE CONNECTION & VENTILATION
We have a big property to care for and an important (but not so ''noticeable'') part of this are our infrastructures. You know those things work good when you don't have to think about them, but they can cause a lot of problem when they start to break down or are not up to standard anymore.
For this year, we will be focusing on 3 main projects:
02 / RADON GAS VENTILATION - TALLÅSEN
One of our buildings here at Restenäs is called Tallåsen, and it serves as home to many of our staff. After some recent inspections by the health & environmental authorities of the municipality, it was confirmed that the level of radon gas is above the recommended limits and therefore we will need to install a new ventilation system in each apartment.
The estimated costs for this project are around 600 000 kr and we are aiming to complete this project before the end of 2020.
01 / SEWAGE CONNECTION
After many years of having our own sewage system, it is now required of us to connect our system to the municipality's sewage system. This has been a very long back and forth process with the municipality for the last 10 years, and now the time has come for the work to get started.
The digging has begun at the beginning April and will continue until June. Then we will have until the end of September to finish the connections to our different buildings. The cost for this project is 1 400 000 kr - 1 150 000 kr for the connection fee and 250 000 kr for our in-house connections.
03 / VENTILATION - COMMUNITY KITCHEN
Our kitchen has been a big blessing for our community throughout the years, providing food and a sense of togetherness to the all and many who have passed through Restenäs during the last 40 years. So after all these years, the kitchen is now in need of an upgraded ventilation system, as the current one cannot be properly cleaned by the chimney sweepers, which poses risks for fire. The estimated costs for this project are around 300 000 kr and we are also aiming to complete this project before the end of 2020.
God has blessed us with a property with so much potential. As we've gone through many ups and downs seasons at Restenäs since the 1980's, we are now standing at the beginning of a new and exciting season. And with that, we want to say that we cannot build towards the future on our own; we need help. We need people who want to believe with us for the future of Restenäs and all that God wants to do in and through this place!
As we look at the mandatory projects ahead of us for this year, it is clear that we are looking at some big numbers... which is requiring each one of us to be stretched in our faith, trusting that God can make a way for the necessary funds to come in at the right time. Our aim is to gather 1 500 000 kr.
