DO YOU FEEL CALLED TO HELP
PEOPLE DEAL WITH PAIN AND HARDSHIPS?
Our heart with the FCM is to begin equipping you in the Christian counselling arena by introducing you to a biblical counselling knowledge and tools, imparting basic counselling skills, and walking with you through your own growth and healing process.
As the entry course into degrees in the College of Counselling and Health Care, the FCM establishes the foundation stones for a biblical counselling ministry, especially within YWAM and the missions community. These foundation stones include a commitment to reach the lost; recognition that ministry involves the individual, the family and the community; the Divine Plumbline counselling model; and revelation as a key to change. In addition, your course may address specific counselling models or tools and specific counselling issues that are considered relevant to a particular target field or ministry.

Lecture phase is a three-month classroom segment which utilizes lectures, discussions, small group interactions and personal study. The close community of students and staff provides a safe environment where the students can grow and practice their skills.
The course goals can be considered three ways:
One goal is to impart to the students, basic counselling skills. Among these skills are active listening skills, and knowledge in how to conduct a counselling interview or session. Also included would be an understanding of the counsellors role and his/her goals. Other skills would be that of rational christian thinking, i.e. identifying the link between our emotional responses and core beliefs. We hope to impart this skill so that the student can use this tool for himself and with potential counsellees.
Another goal has to do with cognitive learning and understanding, related to cross-cultural issues personality differences and gifts. Also, a cognitive understanding of grace, the cross and our identity in Christ are foundational in this school.
The last goal has to do with personal growth and personal application of the truths that are taught in our school. The idea is that unless a student has walked through the process himself/herself they will be limited in their ability to pass on what they learned to others. An important part of the school is personal application of God’s truths, receiving his grace, acceptance and growing in your identity as a son/daughter. Also, living out any applying the truths in relationships.

YOUR FCM COURSE LEADERS
SAY HELLO TO MIKE & YASMINE
Hello! When we did our FCM in 2015 in Amsterdam, it was amazing to experience first hand how the Holy Spirit brought healing and it gave us a big desire for others to experience the same. Nothing surpasses Jesus’ peace and love and that’s what we wish for everybody to experience. FCM helped us see where lies can creep into our lives but also gave us tools for how to help bring these lies into the light and through the power of the Holy Spirit set people free. It is a great school for introducing the world of counselling, not only through theory but also practically. We are looking forward to you joining us on this journey to more of God’s freedom!
