DTS 2016 - 2017

"During DTS, I realized how much more God wants to be included in my every part of my life. I’ve learned that it’s not only about seeking God’s will but also obeying, and that requires a lot of trust from me. But God fully trusts in me, so why shouldn’t I trust Him? When I fully seek, fully trust and fully obey God, that’s when I find true direction, freedom and peace."

READY FOR AN INSPIRING JOURNEY?

The DTS (Discipleship Training School) is a six-month course where you’ll get to know God in a deeper way. LECTURE PHASE

The lecture phase consists of twelve weeks of teaching with speakers sharing from their personal walk with God on a variety of topics. You’ll be a part of a live/learn community of believers who also long to know God and make Him known to the ends of the earth. Throughout the lecture phase, we will have a special emphasis on:

PUTTING GOD FIRST: Through teaching, personal time with God and cooperate worship and prayer you will learn to live with God and your relationship with Him as the centre. You will be challenged to put Him before all other things.

GROWING IN CHRISTLIKENESS: Through teaching, interacting with others and mentoring from the staff you will be challenged to grow in Christlikeness. To imitate him in character as well as action and relating to others.

BEING EQUIPPED FOR SERVICE: Through both teaching and practice you will be equipped to bless others and use the unique gifting God put in you. You will learn to listen to God and cooperate with the Holy Spirit to advance his Kingdom in wherever He calls you.

CULTIVATE A HEART FOR THE LOST: Through understanding the value of each individual and experiencing his heart for the lost. You will develop a desire to help those in need and reach out to those who have never heard of His name.

WEEKLY TOPICS

1 - HEARING GOD'S VOICE

God communicates with every person for the purpose of relationship. You will understand and recognise the various ways God communicates.

2 - NATURE & CHARACTER OF GOD

What we believe about God will impact how we love and trust Him. This week will encourage you to wrestle with, and respond to, the truth about who He is.

3 - MISSIONS

The call to go applies to every Christian. We will learn about the state of the world today and God's heart to reach all people.

4 - HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit has been sent to guide and empower believers. You will learn more about the person of the Holy Spirit and how He works in us.

5 - RELATIONSHIPS

Relationships is the foundation of everything we do! This week teaches us a biblical perspective on how to love God and love people.

6 - EVANGELISM

This week will encourage and challenge you to share the Gospel with others. You will gain practical skills and strategies for sharing the Gospel.

7 - NIKO

NIKO is a five-day wilderness leadership training program where you take risks to discover more about who God has made you to be.

8 - TWO KINGDOMS

Jesus was always teaching about the Kingdom of God. But what is this Kingdom and how is it different from the kingdom of the world?

9 - IDENTITY

Learning who we are in Christ is one of the most life changing realisations we can have. What does it mean that we are sons and daughters of God and that we are made holy?

10 - BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW

God wants to be a part of every area of our life. He has plans for your family, school, workplace and even sports, but what are they?

11 - SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY

This week teaches us how to live out the authority we have been given as believers in Christ.

GROW AS A DISCIPLE,

IN A LIVE/LEARN

ENVIRONMENT.

HOLISTIC LEARNING THAT GOES

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM'S WALLS

As YWAM, our approach to training is holistic - “live-learn” - recognising that learning and growth don’t just take place through lectures in a classroom, but also through serving, living in community, one-on-one discipleship, personal time with God, worship, small groups and much more. Throughout the lecture phase, all these elements will be woven into the schedule. Therefore, the DTS doesn’t just happen during day time. Evenings and weekends are also important parts of our “live-learn” environment as students discuss, sharpen and disciple each other.

YOUR CALLING AS

SALT & LIGHT TO

A WORLD IN NEED.

OUTREACH PHASE

Following three months of lecture phase, your DTS will head off on a 8-12 week cross-cultural outreach. Through both words and action, students will have the privilege of sharing the love of Jesus with others, truly being His hands and feet in a broken world. Outreach teams serve the lost, wherever they are, sharing the hope of Christ in many ways; evangelism, discipleship, sports, drama, youth ministry, teaching, music, practical service, prayer, etc. Teams regularly partner with local churches, YWAM ministries and long-term missionaries to strengthen their work and provide for follow up discipleship. Outreach is an exhilarating time of risk and adventure, as teams serve with local believers; transforming lives and impacting society with the love of Jesus Christ.

YOUR DTS SCHOOL LEADER

SAY HELLO TO JOSEPH OBERG...

Hello there! My name is Joseph, and I will be one of the leaders of the DTS at Restenäs. In the beginning of 2016 I came to the beautiful country of Sweden and did my DTS here at Restenäs. During that time I learned how to hear God's voice, and grew far closer to Him than I ever dreamed I could. Since then, I have become very passionate about spreading God's Kingdom to every corner of the world, and seeing people and cultures restored by His great love, grace, and wisdom. We would like to invite you on the incredible adventure of discovering who God is, who He has made you to be, and the purpose He has laid out before you. Be strong and courageous, and trust that laying your life in God's hands is the

vey best thing you can do with it.
